Originally released in 2007, Inventions for the New Season was Maseratis third album and their first with new drummer, Jerry Fuchs (!!!, Turing Machine, LCD Soundsystem, The Juan Maclean). Fuchs influence was immediately felt, pushing the tempos and helping the band shed much of its former self saving only their trademark reverb and delay-drenched guitars. The result was a sweaty, delirious mix of late-70s Pink Floyd, German psych-rock, and mid-80s action film scores that instantly cemented Maseratis reputation as a whiteknuckled instrumental force. To celebrate Maseratis 20th anniversary, we have remastered Inventions for the New Season from the original master tapes, and repackaged the sprawling double-album in an updated design. This is truly the best this album has ever looked and sounded.
