Condition

Here’s a fascinating piece from the height of Pavarotti’s crossover appeal – his 1985 Decca release “Passione,” which captures the legendary tenor exploring the romantic Italian song tradition that first sparked his love of music. This album marked a deliberate departure from his operatic repertoire, focusing instead on Neapolitan classics like “O Sole Mio” and “Torna a Surriento” alongside other beloved Italian songs. What makes this recording particularly special is hearing Pavarotti return to his roots; these were the songs he grew up with in Modena, and you can feel the personal connection in every phrase.
