JAKOJAKO – Tt 41 – LP – Vinyl

LP – Limited Edition Vinyl (limited run of just 500 copies worldwide).

Tt 41 is the latest record by modular synthesist and Berghain resident JakoJako (Sibel Koer), marking her album debut for Mute.

Recorded during a trip to Vietnam and bookended by field recordings from Tt Lunar New Year celebrations, the album is illuminated by references to Koers heritage. The melodic palette breaks away from traditional Western scales, drawing instead from the tonal intricacies of the Vietnamese language, inspired by overheard conversations. The album and track titles further honour the vibrant Tt festivities, shrines, and landmarks she encountered during her travels.

I wanted to collect the atmospheres of Vietnam, and strip it back to my language – electronic music. I dont have huge ties to the traditions of my Vietnamese family, so being able to experience them with my mother, and then bring the Lunar Celebration – the colourful flowers, food and customs – back to Europe through music has helped me realise how important this side of my heritage is. – JakoJako

This album is, in many ways, a distillation of ideas she has been exploring for years. Tapping into a deep understanding of machine-based music, crafted with a minimalist setup consisting of a Eurorack and Waldorf Iridium Core, Tt 41 reflects on notions of rebirth, and the pursuit of a sonic core. From this simplicity emerge some of her most expansive, unworldly compositions to date.

Tt 41 is available on vinyl in a limited run of just 500 copies worldwide.
